Unlock Your Potential: Faith-Filled Strategies to Escape the Enemy's Trap
To become who you truly want to be, there’s one thing you need to do: do what you haven’t done yet.
You may tell yourself that you've tried it all—been there, done that. But I’m here to tell you a harsh truth, it might sting a bit. Ready? You haven’t. Not really. I can tell you what you haven’t done. You haven’t committed. You’re still glued to your phone, still craving rest at every turn, still trapped in a mindset of lack, and still blaming the world for where you are. But I’m telling you—the source to all this is in your thoughts. Your mind is the precursor to everything you see in your life, and it is your thoughts that are holding you back.
Your limiting beliefs are harming you. It is helpful to know where the come from. You need to identify them, because whatever you do not see, you do not change.
If you want to be generous, but you’re stuck in poverty—mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and/or financially, what can you give when you are running dry? How can you proclaim the love of God when you’re trapped in fear? Remember, the spirit of fear is not from God. He gave you a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind. But you must choose to walk in that truth.
God wants you to be generous, but how can you truly be generous if you’re not living in abundance? You weren’t created to keep your gifts hidden. You were created to use them—to share them with the world. This is your purpose.
The enemy wants you stuck. Stagnant. He wants you to feel numb to life, numb to love, to point fingers, and play the victim. But here’s the truth: it is up to you to change. God gives you courage to change. He gives you the discernment to recognize what’s from Him and how you’ve been brainwashed to keep you small.
If you want to climb to the top 1%, you’ve got to do what the other 99% won’t. The difference between the successful and the stuck is this:
Effort. Persistence. Commitment. Grit.
Most people give up easily. They say they've done it all, but the reality is—they haven't.
So, let’s talk about how the enemy keeps you stuck:
Distract: Social media. Scrolling. Wasting hours on your phone. If you're spending more than an hour a day on your phone, it's already detrimental to everything you want to achieve. The enemy keeps you distracted so you won’t take action, won’t focus on your goals. Every moment wasted scrolling is a moment you could be building your future.
The Way Out:
Set a limit on your apps. Use an app blocker to restrict your social media to 30 minutes a day. Don’t go in again until the next day. Nothing on social media needs your attention in less than 24 hours. Stay disciplined and stick to your boundaries. Every moment you save from distraction is a moment you can invest in your purpose.
Deny: Denial keeps you from facing the truth about where you are and what you need to change. It’s a lie that tells you nothing is wrong, that you don’t need to grow or evolve. Denial stops you from seeing the truth of what’s holding you back, making you conform and feeding you the lie of humility. It convinces you not to engage in the effort needed to step out of your comfort zone and into the higher calling God has for you.
The Way Out:
Face the truth head-on. Acknowledge where you are and where you want to go. Take full responsibility for your life, your choices, and your circumstances. Denial keeps you in a lie. Truth sets you free. Start by journaling your thoughts and fears, and use that as fuel to commit to the change you need.
Destroy: The enemy wants to destroy your worth, feeding you limiting beliefs that keep you small, stuck, and afraid. He will whisper lies about your inadequacy, your failure, and your past mistakes, trying to drown out the truth of who you are in Christ.
The Way Out:
Replace lies with truth. When you feel doubt creeping in, speak scripture over your life. God’s Word tells you who you are—chosen, loved, and empowered. Write affirmations that reflect your worth and repeat them daily. Take time to remind yourself of your value and purpose in God and his promises to you. Every time a lie comes, replace it with truth. You are loved. You are strong. You are worthy. Your are capable.
Division: The enemy wants to divide you from others—your community, your support system, your faith, and even your own purpose. When you feel divided, you are isolated. You feel alone in your struggles, and that isolation is dangerous. It stops you from receiving help and encouragement from those around you.
The Way Out:
Stay connected. Set boundaries to protect your time and energy, but never isolate yourself. Seek out accountability, find a mentor, or join a group that lifts you up. Community is powerful. Surround yourself with people who encourage your growth and remind you of your worth. You were not created to do life alone.
Doubt: Doubt is the poison that erodes your belief in yourself, your dreams, and even your faith. The enemy uses doubt to plant seeds of uncertainty, making you question if you’re really capable of success, or if you’re worthy of God’s promises. It makes you second-guess yourself, causing you to hesitate at every step.
The Way Out:
Build your faith and confidence. Each time doubt arises, take it captive. Remember the victories you’ve already had, no matter how small, and let them fuel your next step. Pray and ask God for the strength to move forward with unwavering confidence. When you doubt, trust in His faithfulness instead of your own fear.
Despair: Finally, despair is the enemy’s most powerful weapon. When you are trapped in despair, you believe there is no way out. You feel helpless, hopeless, and overwhelmed. You might start acting out of desperation rather than creation. But here’s the truth—despair is a lie. God promises you a future filled with hope. You were not created for despair; you were created to rise.
The Way Out:
Hold fast to hope. No matter how dark it seems, God is always working behind the scenes. He promises you a future filled with hope. When despair hits, remind yourself that this moment is not your final destination. Take it one day at a time. Focus on small wins. Let hope be the anchor that keeps you moving forward.
Now, let’s flip the script from the lies that hold us back to the truth that moves us forward. This is what successful people do instead, and this is what we’re called to do, both as entrepreneurs and as women of faith:
They schedule their lives, managing their time wisely as stewards of the blessings God has given them. Jesus tells us in Luke 16:10, "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much." When we manage our time well, we’re demonstrating our trustworthiness in God’s eyes.
They say no to things that don’t align with their bigger picture, just as the Bible encourages us to be discerning and deliberate in our choices. In 1 Corinthians 10:23, it says, "I have the right to do anything," you say—but not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anything—but not everything is constructive." Saying no is a powerful act of choosing God’s path over distractions.
They set boundaries, protecting their time and mental health so that they can give their best to their calling. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Setting boundaries is an act of guarding your heart, mind, and spirit from burnout, distraction, and unnecessary stress.
They invest their time and money into things that will elevate them mentally, spiritually, and professionally. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus says, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." By investing in what truly matters, they align their efforts with their purpose and trust God to multiply their resources.
To be someone who stands out, who rises to the top 1%, you have to be willing to do what others won’t. The difference between the successful and the stuck isn’t just effort, it’s also purpose. It’s about committing to your calling and refusing to let distractions, doubts, division, denial, or despair take you away from your path.
Your future self is depending on you to make the change today. The road ahead may not be easy, but it’s worth it. You were made for greatness. Start living like it and trust God to guide you every step of the way.
